Cardiff-based Alesi Surgical has raised £5 million, bringing its total funding to over £21 million. The funding round, led by Mercia Ventures with participation from existing investors IP Group and Panak Partners, follows FDA clearance for the IonPencil, a surgical tool incorporating Alesi’s smoke management technology. This technology addresses the increasing recognition of hazards posed by smoke generated during surgeries. Legislation in 18 US states requires smoke management policies, and Alesi’s Ultravision systems offer an efficient solution. The recent investment will drive US sales and enable regulatory efforts in Europe and Japan.
