Farm management system provider CropX has acquired precision nitrogen management innovator EnGeniousAg, marking the company’s sixth acquisition. The financial terms were not disclosed. This acquisition will allow CropX to integrate EnGeniousAg’s advanced nitrogen-sensing technology into its farm management platform. EnGeniousAg employees will join CropX full-time. Experts note that optimizing nitrogen use is critical due to its high costs and environmental impact. CropX’s chief revenue officer John Gates emphasizes that nitrogen efficiency is often around 60% or lower, meaning a significant portion of nitrogen and financial investment is wasted. EnGeniousAg co-founder Michael Castellano points out that uncertainty in optimal nitrogen levels limits the effectiveness of nitrogen-fixing solutions. The technology from EnGeniousAg offers precise, near-instantaneous nitrogen measurements in plant tissues, soil, and water. CropX CEO Tomer Tzach indicates that this technology aligns perfectly with CropX’s ongoing mission to enhance data collection and improve farm management outcomes. The acquisition also follows CropX’s strategic goal to own the data collection layer entirely.
