Egypt has decided to liquidate the Lighthouse Education fund before it even commences operations, according to sources cited by Asharq Business. The decision was made to prevent potential losses as the cost of building schools has increased following the devaluation of the Egyptian pound. The Lighthouse Education fund, which focused on pre-university education, had raised EGP 500 million in 2021. The contributors included The Sovereign Fund of Egypt (TSFE), Banque Misr, Misr Insurance Holding Company, and Suez Canal Bank.
